§ SIR JOHN SHELLEYsaid, he wished to ask, Whether it is true that the First Commissioner of Works means to pull down the houses on the south side of New Bridge Street, and erect Public Offices on the site? He thought it would be preferable to leave the whole space open to Westminster Hall, under certain arrangements.
MR. COWPERsaid, the houses in question would not be purchased for two or three years, and that it would then be time enough to decide in what way the space should be occupied. In the meantime, he must say that he could not approve the arrangements proposed by the hon. Baronet.
