HC Deb 23 April 1860 vol 157 cc2237-8

Order for Second Reading read.

MR. CARDWELL

said, that he would move to postpone the second reading of this Bill.

MR. HENNESSY

complained that it had not yet been printed.

MR. CARDWELL

explained that the delay in circulating the Bill arose from proofs having to be sent for revision to his right hon. Friend in Ireland.

MR. WHITESIDE

observed that it was trifling with a subject of great importance to have introduced this measure—as was shrewdly suspected—before it was prepared. The Government had no right to bring in a Bill which was not ready for the printers.

Second Reading deferred till Friday.

House adjourned at a quarter before One o'clock.
