§ MR. W. VANSITTARTsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary of State for India, whether the Report from the Government of India respecting compensation for losses sustained during the late mutiny has been received; and, if so, whether it is his intention to lay such Report on the table of this House?
§ SIR CHARLES WOODsaid, that Report from India had been received upon compensation for losses incurred during 1201 the mutiny, but it was not a final Report. The whole subject would have to come under the notice of the House, but he was not prepared at present to say, whether he should be able to lay the Report on the table, as he apprehended it might be necessary to communicate with the Government of India upon it.
