MR. RICHARDSON

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether it be the intention of Her Majrsty's Government to recommend to Her Majesty to appoint a day of Thanksgiving to Almighty God, in acknowledgment of His great mercy in giving success to the British Arms in quelling the Revolt in India, and in the re-establishment of British power.

LORD STANLEY

said that the Government thought it more advisable to defer the consideration of the subject alluded to by the hon. Gentleman until the complete pacification of India was secured.
