HC Deb 18 February 1859 vol 152 cc507-8
MR. ROBERTSON

said, he rose to ask the Secretary of State for India, whether, in the event of a Loan being authorized to be raised in this Country, any authority that may have been given to Lord Canning to raise money by loan or debentures, at six per cent per annum, will be at once cancelled; and, whether the Five per Cent Loan now open in Calcutta will be closed?

LORD STANLEY

said that, in asking the House to go into Committee on the subject of the Indian loan, he should have to say a few words in reference to the statement which he made the other night, and perhaps the House would excuse him if he deferred his reply to the question until that time.
