§ MR. AYRTONsaid, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is the intention of the Government to issue a Commission to inquire into the effect of prolonged labour of children in Mines of Coal and Ironstone, as the Act for the Inspection of Mines expires next year?
§ MR. G. CLIVEsaid, he believed that an inquiry would take place on the subject, but that it had not yet been determined whether it should be conducted by a Commission. The matter, however, was under consideration, and he had no doubt that his right hon. Friend the Home Secretary would make a statement on the subject early next Session.
