said, he had a notice on the Paper to call the attention of the House to the information understood to have been withheld from the Board of Control; and, if it had not been for the surprising statement which was made to the House last evening by the right hon. Gentleman opposite (Mr. Vernon Smith), he should have proceeded with his Motion; but, as that statement must necessarily influence the course of the impending debate, he would not proceed further at present.
