§ MR. CROSSproposed to omit the words "or any local Act." The object of the Bill was to remove an anomaly in the existing law by which all occupiers of houses above £6 and under £20, the rates of which were paid by the owners, were not entitled to be placed upon the burgess list, while the occupiers of houses similarly situated, the value of which was under £6 were entitled to vote at municipal elections. The words which he proposed to omit had been objected to, overriding all local Acts without any inquiry into the circumstances of those Acts.
