§ SIR ERSKINE PERRYsaid, he had 1948 given notice "To ask whether letters from the Governor General of India have not been received, covering reports of a public character, from Mr. Montgomery and other officers in Oude, relating to the pacification of that country, and whether there is any objection to laying such Reports on the table?" He understood that the documents referred to formed part of a private communication and could not be produced. He hoped, however, that the noble Lord would reconsider his determination and agree to produce those papers at once, as they would be of great value to the public. He would take another opportutunity of putting a question to the noble Lord on the subject.
