FITZGERALDsaid, that, regarding the measure as an infringement upon a constitutional principle, the independence of the Judges, who, if it passed into a law, would be removeable in case of infirmity, by order of the Privy Council, he should meet the Motion with a direct negative, and ask the House to divide on the question.
§ Motion made, and Question put, "That the Bill be now read the Third Time."
§ The House divided:—Ayes 83; Noes 54: Majority 29.
