§ SIR GEORGE PECHELLsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary for the Treasury whether he could give a detailed account of the moneys paid in bounty for the capture of slaves; and also, whether he thought the sum of £2,000 would be sufficient for the bounty which it was proba- 1437 ble would have to be paid in he coming year.
§ MR. G. A. HAMILTONlaid, that a Return moved for by an hon. Member would give details of the number of slaves captured in each year since 1847, with the sums paid for their capture. It was estimated that £2,000 would be sufficient for the payment of bounty in the coming year.
