HATCHELLsaid, he would beg to ask the Attorney General for Ireland whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce a Bill this Session to abolish the privilege of Freedom from Arrest at present enjoyed by official debtors in Ireland, in accordance with the recommendation of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce?
§ MR. WHITESIDE, in reply, said, that the subject was undoubtedly one of great importance, but it was obvious that the privilege of freedom from arrest for debt could not be abolished in one case without being abolished in all cases, including that of Members of Parliament.
