§ MR. BRADYsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary for War if a Memorial was received by him from the Militia Surgeons of the embodied regiments, asking to be placed on a permanent footing; and, if so, what are the intentions of the Government on the subject?
GENERAL PEELsaid, he had received the Memorial alluded to by the hon. Gentleman, and had returned answer that he could not, under present circumstances, increase the expense of the permanent Staff of the Militia, which at present amounted to £159,000.
