MR. HEADLAMasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Law Officers of the Crown had given their opinion on the case of the Cagliari, and whether he could give any further information on the subject.
THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERreplied, that some very important documents with respect to the case arrived only on Saturday morning last, and had been immediately submitted to the Law Officers of the Crown. In consequence of the arrival of those documents he was not able that day specifically to state to the House the opinion at which the Law Officers had arrived, but he trusted to be able to do so soon.
