§ MR. CLAYasked the Vice President of the Board of Trade whether it was the intention of the Government to bring forward any measure for the abolition of the Russia Company, or affecting any portion of the dues levied by that company?
§ MR. LOWEreplied, that the measure which would be brought forward by the Government did not contemplate the abolition of the Russia Company, but only that of the tolls, amounting to £2,000 a year, levied by that company from shipping in the ports of this country, and applied partly to charitable purposes, and partly to such purposes as the erection of organs at Moscow, and the painting of the Emperor of Russia's portrait.
