THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

Sir, I beg to move for leave to bring in a Bill which I think will not be objected to by any hon. Gentleman on either side of the House—namely, a Bill to reduce the present income tax to the rate of 7d. in the pound for the next year on incomes above £150 a year, and to 5d. on incomes between £100 and £150 a year.

Leave given.

Bill to reduce the Rates of Duty on Profits arising from Property, Professions, Trades, and Offices, ordered to be brought in by the CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER, Viscount PALMERSTON, and Mr. WILSON.
