HC Deb 03 March 1857 vol 144 c1725
SIR WILLIAM VERNER

said, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he could inform the House when the Bill for the Assimilation of Weights and Measures in Ireland was likely to be laid upon the table of the House?

MR. HORSMAN

, in reply, said that it was the intention of the Government to introduce a Bill for the regulation of fairs and markets in Ireland, and the regulation of weights and measures would form a portion of the Bill, which had been prepared, and was now under revision. He hoped to be able to lay it on the table in the course of a short time, and he trusted that its discussion would be proceeded with as soon as the state of public affairs would permit.
