HC Deb 23 June 1857 vol 146 cc250-1
MR. BRYDGES WILLYAMS

said, he wished to ask the President of the Board of Control whether it is the intention of the Government to disband any of the Native troops in India, and if so, what number?

MR. VERNON SMITH

said, the 19th Regiment of Native Infantry had been disbanded in India in consequence of mutiny, but there was no intention of disbanding any others, unless—which he trusted and believed would not be the case—a similar insubordination should be manifested.
