HC Deb 24 February 1857 vol 144 cc1247-8
MR. ESMONDE

said, he would beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether it was the intention of Her Majesty's Government to call out for training the Irish militia, and if so at what period? He would also beg to ask when the issue of the Sardinian Medals and the Order of the Medjedjie might be expected?

MR. FREDERICK PEEL

said, that a portion of the Irish militia would be called out for training and exercise in the course of the present year, but he could not say at what time. With regard to the decorations spoken of by the hon. Member, the list of those entitled to them was being prepared, but was not yet complete.
