§ MR. J. G. PHILLIMOREasked the Solicitor General whether it was the intention of Her Majesty's Ministers to bring forward any measure founded on the Report of the Committee of last Session on the appointment of a Public Prosecutor?
THE SOLICITOR GENERALsaid, that during the short time he had held his present office that subject had been under the serious consideration of Her Majesty's Government; and they still continued to give to it that consideration. He could not pledge the Government to any particular course upon the question, which was one, as his hon. and learned Friend was aware, involved in considerable difficulty. At the same time, he should add, that he was not without a hope that some scheme might be devised, if not for literally carrying out the Report of the Committee of last Session, at least for the substantial attainment of the object of the framers of that Report.
