RICARDOsaid, that the Chancellor of the Exchequer having withdrawn from the Committee of Inquiry into the Bank Charter so much of the proposed investigation as related to Joint stock Banks, he wished to know whether he intended to appoint another Committee to consider that subject, or whether he had any measure in contemplation?
THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERSir, I have no present intention of proposing a second Committee, but I propose to state at an early day the course which the Government propose to take in dealing with the subject of Joint-stock Banks.
