HC Deb 11 December 1857 vol 148 c553
MR. LAURIE

said, he would beg to ask the Under Secretary for War, Whether any prize money is to be distributed to the Army who were engaged in the Crimea?

SIR JOHN RAMSDEN

said, that his answer would be the same as that which had been given by his noble Friend at the head of the Government to a precisely similar question rather more than a year ago. His noble Friend then stated that he was not prepared to recommend to the Crown any distribution of prize money, because the booty taken in the Crimea was so small that it would not afford above 2s. 6d. to each officer, and 6d. to each private.
