§ MR. SULLIVANsaid, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, whether it is the intention of Government to appoint a Stipendiary Magistrate for the district of Kilkenny, in the room of Mr. T. Green, who has been physically unable for many months to attend his magisterial duties.
§ MR. H. A. HERBERTsaid, he could not say that it was the intention of the Government to make an immediate appointment, as there was no acknowledged vacancy in the office to which the hon. Gentleman had alluded. A statement had, however, been made to the Government that Mr. Green was unable to attend to his magisterial duties. If this inability seemed likely to be permanent, the Government would be prepared to take steps to remedy the inconvenience.
