HC Deb 07 August 1857 vol 147 c1221
MR. KIRK

said, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether any, and what portion of the evidence taken by the Commissioners of Endowed Schools (Ireland) has been printed; whether the Report will be presented to Her Majesty's Government in November, as has been promised; and if so, whether it will be published so as to be in the hands of persons interested during the Parliamentary recess?

Mr. H. A. HERBERT

said, that a portion of the evidence was already in the hands of the printer, but it would be incomplete without the Report, and he believed the Report had been delayed by the illness of one of the Commissioners. As the Commission expired at the beginning of November, no doubt every effort would be made to have the Report ready by that time. With regard to publishing, he apprehended that the Report could not be published before it was presented to the House, and he, therefore, could hold out no hopes of its being published during the recess.
