MR. CONINGHAM

said, he would now beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to sanction the removal of any portion of the National Collections of Pictures in Trafalgar Square and Marlborough House to Brompton?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

said, Her Majesty's Government had come to no decision upon the subject to which the question of the hon. Gentleman referred. It was not their intention at present to sanction any removal of pictures in the National Gallery or in Marlborough House to South Kensington. In fact, there was no building at present to which they could be removed, even if such were the intention of the Government.
