HC Deb 06 March 1856 vol 140 c1953
MR. E. BALL

asked the Vice President of the Board of Trade whether it was the intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce a Bill during the present Session of Parliament giving power to the Board of Trade, in the case of any line of railway that might be reported unsafe by their officers, to order all necessary works to be done for the safety of the public at the expense of such railway company, and that the certificate of the Board of Trade's engineer should entitle the party having done such works to immediate payment for the same from such railway company?

MR. LOWE

said, the Government had no intention of introducing any such Bill.

MR. E. BALL

Do the Government intend to introduce any Bill on the subject?

MR. LOWE

If the hon. Gentleman will repeat his question on a future occasion, I shall be better able to answer it.
