HC Deb 04 March 1856 vol 140 cc1859-60

Order for Second Reading read.

After a few observations from Mr. MURROUGH,

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

said, that hon. Members were aware that under the Act of last year new vestries were elected, and the question had arisen whether the words "existing vestries" applied to them only, or to the old parochial vestries also, and it was thought preferable that Parliament should decide the question, rather than the parishes should be involved in legal expenses by any contention between the two bodies.

Bill read 2o.

The House adjourned at a quarter before One o'clock.
