§ COLONEL HIGGINSsaid, he would beg to ask the right hon. Gentleman the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether it was his intention to carry out the promise made by the Irish Government to the Grand Jury of the county of Mayo, of introducing a Bill to enable the Grand Jury to represent the arrears of cess now due in that county, and on the faith of which promise alone the Act of the 17 & 18 Vict. c. 110, was agreed to by that county?
MR. J. D. FITZGERALDsaid, that it was the intention of the Government immediately 1087 to bring in a Bill of the nature referred to; but it would not be introduced on any implied promise of the Irish Government.
