said, there was a report that the Government intended to give a guarantee for a Turkish loan. He wished to know whether this was the intention of the Government, and whether the noble Lord intended to bring the matter before the House?

I can only say that when the Government have a communication to make on a matter of this sort they will make it. But it is not the habit of the Government to give prospective answers to questions as to their intentions on matters upon which no intentions have been formed

said, he hoped that the House would have ample notice if the practice of subsidising were to be revived.
