HC Deb 05 June 1855 vol 138 c1407
MR. DUNLOP

said, he begged to ask the Vice-President of the Board of Trade to state the reason why the Partnership and Limited Liabilities Bills are not extended to Scotland, and whether it is the purpose of the Government to introduce corresponding measures in reference to that part of the United Kingdom?

MR. BOUVERIE

said, the reason why these Bills did not extend to Scotland was, that they were based chiefly on the machinery of the Joint-Stock Companies Registration Act, which was confined to England and Ireland. With regard to introducing a separate measure for Scotland, his right hon. and learned Friend the Lord Advocate had the subject under his consideration, but he was not able to say that his right hon. and learned Friend would be able to bring in a Bill this Session.
