MR. WALPOLE

brought up the Report of the Committee appointed to inquire into the nature of the contract entered into between Baron Lionel de Rothschild and Her Majesty's Government as respected the loan of 16,000,000l., with a view of ascertaining whether Baron de Rothschild had vacated his seat as Member for the City of London in consequence thereof. The clerk at the table read the Report, which stated that in the opinion of the Committee Baron de Rothschild had not entered into a contract within the intent and meaning of the Act.
