HC Deb 18 December 1854 vol 136 c488

Message from The Lords—That they have passed a Bill, intituled "An Act to permit Foreigners to be enlisted, and to serve as Officers and Soldiers in Her Majesty's Forces."

LORD JOHN RUSSELL

moved, that this Bill be now read a first time.

Bill read 1°; to be read 2° To-morrow.

MR. DISRAELI

I conclude the Bill will be in the hands of hon. Members to-morrow morning. For the sake of facilitating public business, I do not object to the second reading of the Bill to-morrow; but I should be sorry if the noble Lord would conclude from that that I do not object to the passing of this measure, for I shall offer it my most uncompromising opposition.

Adjourned at half after Eight o'clock.
