§ MR. LASCELLESreported from the Select Committee appointed to try and determine the matter of the petitioner complaining of an undue election and return for the Borough of Newry, that William Kirk, Esq., the sitting Member, had been duly elected a Burgess to serve in the present Parliament for the Borough of Newry. He further wished to inform the House that the Committee had agreed to a Resolution, the effect of which was, that having examined the Agents on both sides, in order to ascertain the circumstances under 554 which the said petition was withdrawn, the Committee did not feel that the case called for any special remark by them with reference to the forbearance from the prosecution of that petition.
