HC Deb 19 November 1852 vol 123 c249
The CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

I beg to give notice, Sir, that on Tuesday, the twenty-third, on the Motion of the hon, Member for Wolverhampton, I will move a Resolution by way of Amendment, expressed in this language: — That this House acknowledges with satisfaction that the cheapness of provisions, occasioned by recent Legislation, has mainly contributed to improve the condition and increase the comforts of the working classes; and that unrestricted competition having been adopted, after duo deliberation, as the principle of our Commercial System, this House is of opinion that it is the duty of the Government unreservedly to adhere to that policy in those measures of Financial and Administrative Reform which, under the circumstances of the Country, they may deem it their duty to introduce.
