HC Deb 10 May 1849 vol 105 c195
MR. EWART

said, that some time since a commission had been appointed to consider the best means of approving the administration of the Board of Customs. He begged to ask the right hon. Gentleman the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any progress had been made by that commission, and when it was likely that they would report?

The CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

said, that the commission had made its first report, and that in accordance with the recommendations therein contained, a Treasury Minute had been issued, the effect of which would be, he was happy to say, a saving of 50,000l. a year.

Subject at an end.
