HC Deb 23 March 1849 vol 103 c1189
VISCOUNT CASTLEREAGH

wished to ask the right hon. Baronet the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether it was the intention of the Government to propose any measure with regard to the holding of party processions in Ireland; or whether it had any intention to revive the Act of 1845 on this subject?

SIR G. GREY

said, that on looking at the melancholy results that had lately occurred in connexion with party processions in Ireland, he was inclined to think it might be expedient to propose some measure to prevent party processions of all kinds. The matter was under consideration, but at present he could only express an opinion that it might be expedient to adopt such a measure.
