MR. VERNON SMITHwished to ask a question of the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies. In the course of last Session he had stated, in reply to a question, that Sir Henry Pottinger had sent home a report, after he left the Cape of Good Hope, concerning the expenses of the Kaffir war, and the expenses of the colony. He then stated that the report had been referred to the Audit Office; and he (Mr. Vernon Smith) wished to know whether any report had been received from the Audit Office since the report of Sir Henry Pottinger?
§ MR. HAWESsaid, that the report had been received; but he was not yet in a condition to state when it would be in the hands of the Members. It was a very complicated report, and a very laborious inquiry.
