§ Mr. E. Bullerreferred to the reports relative to the excesses said to have been committed by our troops in Afghanistan. He wished to know whether Government had received any information as to these alleged proceedings.
§ Sir H. Hardingehad no specific information to answer the charge. He had, however, received a letter from the Governor-general, in which that noble Lord stated, that he had been in correspondence with between thirty and forty intelligent gentlemen in the military and civil service in India, all of whom stated that they had never heard anything of the excesses said by the press of this country to have been committed.
