The Earl of Jermynappeared at the bar of the House, and said: I have the honour to inform the House that their address to her Majesty, on Tuesday last, praying, that her Majesty would be gracioualy pleased to take into her instant and serious consideration the best means of diffusing the benefits and blessings of a moral and religious education among the working classes of her people, has been presented to her Majesty, and that her Majesty was pleased to receive the same very graciously, and to give the following answer: —
I have received your loyal and dutiful address.The attention of my Government had been previously directed to the important object of increasing the means of moral and religious education among the working classes of my peopleThe assurance of your cordial co-operation in measures which I consider so necessary, confirms my hope that this blessing will be secured by legislative provisions.
