begged leave to renew the question which he had put on a former occasion to the noble Lord (the Secretary for Foreign Affairs) regarding the question of international copyright. Perhaps the noble Lord would be good enough to state what progress had been made on the subject.

Viscount Palmerston

had found, upon inquiry, that propositions had been made to the Governments of the United States, the German Confederation, Saxony, and Prussia, but none of those overtures had led to any satisfactory result.
