§ Sir S. Lushingtonwished to ask the right hon. Gentleman, at the head of the Board of Control, whether any despatches had ben received with respect to the state of slavery in India, and whether he would consent to lay such despatches upon the Table of the House.
§ Sir John Hobhousereplied, that since the papers received in July, 1838, were laid upon the Table of the House, a correspondence had been carried on between the home Government and the Government in India, and he would have no objection whatever to lay the correspondence before the House.
