said, that a rumour was in circulation, that a case of flogging on the Sabbath had occurred in the navy. He wished to ask whether such was the case, and whether, if so, the Admiralty had issued orders to prevent the recurrence of it, as had been done in reference to the land service by the Horse Guards.

Mr. More O'Ferrall

said, the Board of Admiralty had received information of the circumstance alluded to by the hon. Baronet, and although they believed that the occurrence of punishment on Sunday was not usual, they had issued an order to prevent a recurrence of it.
