§ Mr. C. A. Pelham moved the Order of the day, for the consideration of the Lords' amendments to this Bill.
§ Mr. Wakleyobjected to the amendments being taken into consideration, as they had not been printed, and suggested that they should be postponed till Friday. So far as he had read the amendments, he thought them decided improvements to the Bill, but he was anxious to consider them more carefully.
§ The Chancellor of the Exchequerremarked, that if hon. Members were ignorant of the nature of the amendments, the best way to acquire a knowledge of them, was to proceed to consider them.
§ Mr. Warburtonobserved, that the Lords' amendments made the Bill much more popular than before.
§ The House divided: Ayes 60; Noes 5 Majority 55.
