§ The Act for abolishing the oaths to be taken before the Lord Steward having come into operation, no oaths were taken 35 before the Members assembled, and a great number was present when the House was summoned to the House of Peers.
§ At half past two o' clock, the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod came and announced that the Lords, authorised by his Majesty's Commission to open the Parliament, requested the attendance of the Commons. The Chief Clerk, followed by Lord Althorp and the Ministers, with other Members, obeyed the summons, and soon afterwards returned. No announcement was made to the House.
