§ Mr. RobinsonI see by the papers that an expensive toy has been sent to the king of Prussia as a present, and I wish to ask whether the Government has gone to this expense without the authority of the Parliament.
§ Lord AlthorpThe only answer that I can give the hon. Gentleman is, that no authority has been issued from the Treasury; but I am not further acquainted with the circumstances.
§ Sir Byam MartinThe hon. Gentleman is under a mistake if he supposes that any great expense has been incurred. I see it stated in the papers at 20,000l; but I believe that I am pretty near the mark when I say that it will not exceed 500l or 600l. The frigate has been sent abroad at the King's express desire, and under the direction of the First Lord of the Admiralty.
