§ Mr. Brougham, in postponing his motion on this subject, wished to offer his reasons for so doing, He did not withdraw the motion because the subject was not one 1188 of the most pressing emergency, but having been prevented from time to time, by the press of other business from bringing it before the House, he found that if he were now to take the first open day, he should be doing the cause no service, as the attendance at this late period was likely to be so thin. He should, therefore, better discharge his duty to the House, and the subject, by giving a general notice of-his intention to bring it forward at an earlier period next session.
