HC Deb 21 October 1943 vol 392 c1513
46. Sir Stanley Reed

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the valuable services rendered to the community by domestic staffs and the importance of their skilled work, he will consider the desirability of rewarding members of this service in each Honours List?

The Prime Minister

I fear it would not be possible to extend the Honours List in this direction without embracing so many forms of service that distinction would become universal and therefore lose its point.
