HC Deb 12 July 1932 vol 268 c1118
55. Captain HOPE (for the Earl of DALKEITH)

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the reduction in the grants for horse breeding, he will reconsider the advisability of the annual grant of £1,563 for the King's plates in Ireland?

Major ELLIOT

As my predecessors have explained, it was decided, in view of the special nature and long standing of this payment, to continue it after the establishment of separate Governments in Ireland.

Captain HOPE

In view of the altered conditions in the Free State, will the matter be reconsidered?
