HC Deb 17 July 1913 vol 55 cc1415-6
33. Mr. FALLE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if His Majesty's ship "Hampshire" has been sent to the China station for three years, and has taken over men of the lower deck from others of His Majesty's ships who have already been a considerable time on this station; and if he can arrange that these men will be relieved before the "Hampshire" returns home?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Churchill)

No definite period has yet been named for the "Hampshire" to remain on the China station before re-commissioning. It is within the discretion of the Commander-in-Chief to transfer men to the "Hampshire" who have not completed their time on the station. Such men will be relieved in due course when their period of service abroad expires.
