§ MR. SUMMERBELLI beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that a riot recently 689 took place among the indentured coolies on Perseverance Estate, Couva, Trinidad, resulting in the murder of William M'Kenzie, senior overseer; that discontent exists among the indentured coolies, seventy from the Kleinwort Estate being charged at the Couva police court during January, February, and March for various offences; and, if so, will he order an investigation into the whole of the circumstances.
§ MR. CHURCHILLNo information has as yet boon received on the subject of the riot referred to, but the Governor will be asked for a Report on the matters referred to in the hon. Member's Question.
